Drivetrain Technical Breakdown
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
MODERN RELIABILITY, OFF-ROAD PERFORMANCE
Drivetrain Design Philosophy
The goal behind the drivetrain was simple: combine modern OEM reliability with competition-grade off-road performance.
Traditional Bronco powertrains are proven, but modern engine and transmission technology offers significant advantages in weight, packaging, fuel efficiency, drivability, and parts availability.
By utilizing modern OEM components and pairing them with the highest quality drivetrain hardware available, the result is a system that performs equally well on the highway, on the trail, and on extreme rock crawling obstacles.
Every component was selected with three priorities in mind:
- Reliability

Key Ratios
- 1st Gear: 4.69:1
- Reverse: 4.86:1
- Overdrive: 0.63:1
Why the 10R80?
The extremely low first gear provides outstanding crawling capability while the deep overdrive allows comfortable highway cruising.
This broad ratio range creates a unique advantage: the vehicle can move surprisingly fast in low range and maintain excellent slow-speed control even when operating in high range.
The result is fewer compromises between trail performance and road manners.
Axle Assemblies
The axle system was designed around maximum strength while keeping serviceability and replacement parts readily available.
